Re: “Iron Dun”

Great proportions; perfect hackle. And that fuzzy body--my oh my! Fish magnet.

Re: Pussycat

Norm,

The body is beautifully tapered. Plus--at least to me--it appears to have a rib. Not sure how you achieved that effect, but it's great!

Re: Drowned Trico

The video is "slightly different" from what he shows on pages 134-135 of his book. In the video, he attaches the wire with 2 turns of thread (just in front of the tail); wraps a 5-6 turn abdomen; ties off the wire at the thorax and then helicopters off the part of the wire he left hanging ...

Head Cement; I need a New Source

I've been using head cement from Hook and Hackle (H&H) for a long time. It looks good and lasts a long time in the bottle without becoming too thick. I have about 60% of a bottle left. Unfortunately, H&H is no longer selling fly tying material (just rod-building stuff), so I need a new sourc...

Re: Purple & Spruce

I'll try and get a couple to photograph. The barn cats got most of the good ones; I had to scrounge the few I have left off the floor. Sorry, Mike, but that's just too funny. Back when our Springer Spaniel, Ghillie, was just a puppy, Vickie was cleaning house and scooted his puppy playpen over next...

Re: Ugly Muskrat

Wayne,

Your Muskrat pattern (ugly or pretty) is proof that simple is often best. The picture of it wet just screams--fish me! Thank you for including it in the recent fly swap. I would like to know more about the fly in the last picture; is that a quill body covered in UV?

Thanks- Ken
