Re: Seal body Sulphur

Really nice looking tie. ;) I find Seal to be no harder to deal with than some of the modern synthetic blends with added flash, some of those can be difficult! Did you brush the Seal fur out after wrapping the rib? This pattern is a great way to make an entrance to the forum, your work will be well ...

Re: Starling, Purple and Gold

Very nice looking wee fly!
I like the addition of the yellow crest to add a bit of an attention getter. Nice neat tying on a #20.
Once you open the post, the attached photo "resizes" to a better viewing window, so all is good.

Re: Dark Tan

This one I like, I will take a dozen #14 and a dozen #16!
This is a great looking just below the film pattern to cover Mayfly hatches here.
Nice idea with the solid mylar abdomen and the dubbing rib, kind of reverse engineered, very clever.

Re: Red Grouse and Turkey

Great looking pair, eloquent in their making.
Look like the fly one might choose after opening the flybox after fishing several hours and having been skunked- what next........ ah, the Red Grouse & Turkey.

Re: Amber and Fluff

I like it, but immediate thought was- wonder if you doubled that fluff and tied it as a loop on top of the "thorax" would it trap more air bubbles? Perhaps not a fast water pattern as the fluff would slick back on the wire (but that may not be a bad thing), but I can see it being effective...

Re: Partridge & Purple

Nice & neat, fully representative of the Partridge & (insert colour of choice) as they should be and were intended to be.
Except maybe the addition of fluff.
I too like the strong hook. It looks to be a pattern I would fish here and expect it to fish well.

Really nice pattern, exceptionally tied.
That would fish very well here. ;)

Re: Waterhen and Turkey.

Great looking pattern.
I agree, Eric's original has a very classic look. Williams first couple of shots look more modern, but the final photograph in his post has a Hidy look about them.
Well that is the way they look to me. ;)

Re: A Tan Flymph

That is a nice looking fly, the kind of fly one would choose from a fully stocked fly box when nothing much else was working.
The dubbing looks a little too translucent for possum, but it could be.

Re: Minty Dove

Well, it looks the part, be interested to see how it fishes.
One would think there would be a plethora of patterns calling for Dove or Pigeon as they were/are both readily available, but there seems to be very little historic record of either being used in fly tying.
Still, it looks pretty damn nice!
