Shellac is fun stuff to play with. Thin it out with denatured alcohol; makes me feel a certain level of emotional attachment when I change varnish consistencies.

Not the best representation of Spruce Grouse color. I need a better contrast color, I think.

I know the fish don't care, but I do. I want to be the best well-rounded tyer I can be; that means mastering Starling. Ever heard of Sisyphus? That's me; always dropping the same rock on my head. Enhance your calm, drink no coffee, mumble something like this: "Vande gurunam charanaravinde"...

Carl - thank you my friend, just what I need: more hook adventures!!! :o :shock: . Bob - Richard Jefferies has mega good hooks, I’ve bought more from him than any of you would care to know. That hook in particular is my absolute favorite not only for flymphs but wets and dries...... It’s very sharp...
