Re: No name Nymph

NOT that I am calling you out or saying you are wrong, just to let you know when it comes to fly grouping here in NZ w...

Yes, you got it right. Decided not to copy you...... just yet till I get some practice in! Found a reference to "Electric Soft Hackles" so tried a couple of them instead. The olive one is done on some cheap bulk (soft!) hooks I picked up somewhere that I use for practice, but it turned out...

And purple is a proven fishy colour, especially if fished deep as it retains it's colour better in lower light spectrum than most other colours so still gives contrast instead of fading to grey as most other colours do as they run out of light.

Nice "modern" tie Mark.

Re: Copper Puke

Thanks Mark.

You know those backwater trout are teasers, very visible- but very hard to induce a take out of! If anyone was going to be able to produce results though, it would be that fella in the photo peering over the grass. :D

Golden Pheasant hen Looks great...there are a lot of "exotics" (to us Americans) like Reeves Pheasant etc. that seem to have a lot of possibilities if you're willing to think outside the "North Country Wet" box. :) As I have stated elsewhere, those exotics are not too hard to fi...

Re: Steelhead/Salmon Flymphs..... ;>)

Matura--loving that "Big Softy;" what's the hackle? Hackle?.... er..... em....... you now how hackle for wet flies usually comes from necks- bodies- or wing somewhere, this one is from the soft broard flat tail feather of a Golden Pheasant hen. Not the usual kind of material you find on a...
