Re: Starling Caddis Soft Hackle
Oh boy--so cleanly executed! A few questions: Did you wrap the hackle forward and tie it down behind the bead or wrap it backwards and tie it down behind the hackle? Either way, there is no trace of your thread. Is there a wrap of the clear Powercord over bare hook at the very back of the fly to cre...

Roadkill,
I just sent Wayne a PM. It's in my outbox, so appears to have worked for me! Perhaps a moderator can provide some guidance.
Take care- Ken

T-12,
Don't just tease us with your description of the Iso Frenchie; a picture is worth 1000 words!
Thanks- Ken

Re: Green Drake Nymphs (generic)
Wayne,
Nice color combination. Excellent work! Did you use some type of tubing for the abdomen? The natural is really plump and very dark.
Thanks for posting- Ken

Re: Iron Blue
I've tied these 2 but haven't fished them because I live in a trout desert called Oklahoma. I'm sure they would catch fish if I just used them as an attractor during 1 of my trips, but it would be nice to fish them someplace that actually had a hatch of the naturals. From Dave Hughes' book, Wet Flie...

Wayne, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I sure wish I had better photography skills, but I offer up this caddis: Hook: Kobe Scud (#7842) - Size 12 Abdomen: Micro Stretch Tubing (Olive) Wing Buds: Partridge (Brown) Tied slanted down Thorax: Hare's Mask (Olive) In a dubbing loop Hackle: Pa...

Re: Heavy Hackled Olive & Partridge
Wayne,
Are your partridge feathers dyed olive or are they just picking up an olive
color from the body when you took the photo?
Thanks- Ken

Re: Peacock and Partridge
Ray, These are tied on an Orvis Czech Nymph Hook (Tactical Barbless Hooks) in Size 14. Item # is: 1POR. A similar hook is: Wholesale Fly Company, Model 28 (Czech Nymph/Caddis BL), but those seem a bit smaller so order up 1 size. I normally tie these on a Partridge "Yorkshire Caddis Hook" (...

Re: Peacock and Partridge
In this version, you make a tag with the wire before using it to rib the peacock body. Known as the Green-butt Caddis. A popular and productive pattern on Arkansas' White River during the March-April Caddis hatch. I hope to travel there this year (if the water release from the dam supports it) and r...
