Willowhead- understood, it is just we live on a by-pass..... the highway missed us. :lol: The very idea of thying a fly without a wing here means your tying a nymph, pure and simple, we don't like to over-complicate things over here. OK, so does this one count?
It may be a little big to qualify as an insect imitation, on a #2 hook and all..... but this thread is aimed at Steelhead right?

Have a few Oz connections through other sites, one a bamboo rod maker from Sydney will be here early next month to fish, another from Tassie makes some wonderful flies with Wallaby fur. Good guys to have met.

:? So enlighten me..... are Steelhead flymphs not meant to have floss bodies? Are floss bodies reserved for hairwing Steelhead flies and Atlantic patterns? Had I have known of such mysteries I would have dubbed a body on the fly above..... it does have one wrap of orange wool and one of bronze peaco...

A more frontal view may give a better idea of the feather, but the green does not show as well as I had hoped.
