Re: Steelhead/Salmon Flymphs..... ;>)

OK, so does this one count? :)

It may be a little big to qualify as an insect imitation, on a #2 hook and all..... but this thread is aimed at Steelhead right?

Thanks Karsten.
Have a few Oz connections through other sites, one a bamboo rod maker from Sydney will be here early next month to fish, another from Tassie makes some wonderful flies with Wallaby fur. Good guys to have met.

Re: Steelhead/Salmon Flymphs..... ;>)

Had I have known of such mysteries I would have dubbed a body on the fly above..... it does have one wrap of orange wool and one of bronze peaco...

Re: Steelhead/Salmon Flymphs..... ;>)

Never tied Steelhead flies before, we don't have them. We have Rainbow Trout but they do not run to the sea. However a while ago I was given a few black hooks that said Salmon & Steelhead on the box, so what the heck! Green & Orange. Size 4 Black Magic N series hook. The hackle feather is no...

That looks like it would ring the dinner gong for most any self respecting trout.
Great pattern.

Re: Little Yellow Dun

Really like the wide gape on those hooks, never seen them here..... might be worth importing a few.

Nice design and colour choice.

Re: Pheasant and Starling (gold v.)

Shows the beauty of a fly that a thinker has tied, versus a mass produced sweat shop fly.

Very very nice tie, fantastic attention to detail makes a "simple" two material fly look a million dollars.
