Love the technique Bill. Would definitely be something to play with for cripples and emerged duns in the surface or spinners. I don't think you would see it on actively emerging insects under the surface. But, it would still be a good technique for a hotspot.

Lance shared some dubbing strands of Pete's with 30% hare, muskrat, and mole mohair. What a great combo. The trifecta of dubbing. They were twisted on primrose silk. Of course I had to use that combo some where. Just an experiment pattern but that dubbing blend is money. reducedTri-color Rusty.jpg

I've noticed the size difference in a couple brands. My Tiemco #12's have grown in size too to where I rarely use them. As I was using a lot of #14, now I'm tying more #16 in many of the hook brands.

The body was usually yellow or green with a red hackle or grizzly hackle and the hun wing was a white speckled. I would trim the hackle on top so the wing would lay correctly. Usually a #12-#16. You got me wanting to tie some up.

Thanks for posting this Ray. Many years ago I used to tie a pattern called the Upland Caddis. Very similar finished design but with palmered dry hackle and a hun wing. Can't remember where I found the pattern or who tied it. That was before internet so I know it was in a book or magazine.

These are really nice Ray. I'm thinking peacock and starling if the starling would cooperate. I tie a peacock and starling keeping the tip on Glanrose style. It is very effective. I like the movement in the little white spot on the starling feathers.
