I had a tough time deciding on what to tie for the swap. I could have easily settled on a Peacock and Partridge, or a Hen and Hare. Heck there are a lot of patterns I have success with at this time.
Do I want to tie something complicated? That way my below average tying skills can be seen.
I decided on a generic little pattern that can be used for a number of bugs. Yellow is fast becoming my favorite late Spring and Summer color.
Generic Yellow, Size 12
The tail is CDL, the thorax is 25% Olive Rabbit, and 75% Amber Hares mask from the cheeks.
The Rib is X-small gold wire
The Collar is Golden Olive , Whiting Brahma (hen)
If I were fishing this pattern odds are it would have a Red head. Some , would have a gold bead (glass)
This pattern is fished as a nymph, emerger, and as a wet. Down and across is my favorite approach.
