Decided to tie an 18 tonight...
The body is one peacock herl from the eye died red, gives it a Hardy's Fav kind of look that I don't mind. Used Partridge for the tail and throat, fun tie...
Here's what Gary Hanke had to say about the pattern;
'A fellow here locally to Alberta that fished the Bow River a considerable amount used to take his Prince nymphs and replace the Goose Biot forked tail with Hungarian Partridge. His patterns often where used in a #12-18 and is a high catching pattern. I asked him once why he did so. His reply was that he felt the biots lifted the pattern because of the drag so as a result it didn't get deep enough for his liking. At the time his pattern was a great seller and still is now that he has passed. He also used duck biots instead of the goose to soften the pattern.'
I asked for the creators name, here's what Gary replied;
Gord Kennedy he used to own the fly shop in Calgary called Westwinds Flyshop. An new young owner and guide has it now, but I cant remember his name or the new name of the flyshop, off the top of my head....
