I tied a few of Hans's Maggot up for a hopeful trip this Saturday. I will not be posting a picture of my copies. . I used cream colored rabbit fur and cream colored antron in a 50/50 mix.

That would be an easy tie with yarn!

Chris,

I agree - very easy to tie with yarn. However, me the tier likes to see the tapered abdomen - not quite as easy to do with yarn.

Do the fish care? Likely not 8-)

I fished the Maggot and Buckskin head to head today. The fish took a Peacock and Partridge and size 18-22 baetis nymphs.

Eclectic would be the perfect word to describe yesterdays float. Many different food sources for the fish to choose from, in slightly dirty water.

I tied up a range of these flies (no pics yet) using chamois, camel, kangaroo and yarn. They all look effective and no doubt if pressed in the right situation. I like the fly. Like I said, I'm a sucker for anything this simple and imitative.

I have fished twice since posting on this thread. I have not caught a fish yet on the maggot, or the Buckskin.
