Pink (Light) Hares Ear Nymph

Post by joaniebo » Thu Apr 23, 2020 3:15 pm

A variation of the Pink Squirrel nymph using light hares ear instead of dark gray squirrel, plus using gold wire instead of red copper wire. All other materials in the PS dubbing mix is the same except for the fur.

Instead of Pink Squirrel, this should be call an Easter Bunny.

I like the idea of telling someone I caught a fish on the Easter Bunny. (twisted humor)

Great fly btw. ;)

joaniebo,

I am copying this pattern right now. Sorry, but I am going to call it the "Easter Bunny"! It's Rays fault!

I was looking for a piece of white wool (can't find any to replace the Krystal Flash) to wrap a little bunch at the rear (for a bunny tail) and then two white biots over the top of the pink chenille (for ears) . Also thought of subbing a black bead (for the nose). With those three extra materials, I think it might really look like an Easter Bunny.

Bob, you tie them, and I will fish them. 8-)

Serious, I can catch fish with your pattern, just like your original. Pink has become a very important color in quite a few of my nymphs and soft hackles.
