Drowned Sally

Dang, I'm gonna need a bigger box for "DUBBN" flies. WHat is the body material on the drowned sally?

This pattern is a work in process. It morphs each year. On hot June afternoons, when the only thing that is buzzing around are Yellow Sally Stones, this pattern works well for me. Not so much swinging, but cast upstream and a dead drift.

I have a box of flies that are Ray Tucker flies. They are beautiful to look at and they catch fish like crazy.

I've started a Wayne box as well. Thanks for the inspiration, Wayne.

With a bead slid above it, with out a bead, heavily hackled and scraggly looking, sparse and delicate looking, fur thorax or not, since Spring this pattern has been so good to me. Floating the Roaring Fork river yesterday this is what they wanted. Again! Nymphing, upstream presentation with no weight, and swinging. All produced.

I did get a devilish grin on my face when I was landing a few small Browns by casting up stream. Some other fishermen took notice and asked what fly I was using. They obviously thought I was casting dries. When I told them Partridge a Yellow soft hackle, they kind of looked sad.
