My last day of fishing before the storms hit.

I fished the Gunnison once last week, the Roaring Fork yesterday, and back to the Gunnison today.

I used a size 16 Guides Choice Soft Hackle as an attractor

Ugh, the things people notice in a photo! 😂😂😂

I have tried and used most every net holder known to man. In the process I have lost two McLean nets, one Fishpond and numerous others.

I went to Home Depot and bought two of those 85 lb NEODYMIUM magnets. One I put on my vest, one I put on my net. I also screwed a washer into a board I have hanging in my garage that I use for hanging my waders and such. The magnet keeps my net in place.

On the other end of the net I have a carabiner attached to a bungee. I use this to attach to a cargo net I have on my raft. This way I can net fish on either side of the raft, but the net stays attached.

The good thing is, I have not lost a net in 4 years. The bad thing, when netting a fish the flies always end up on that bad a$$ 🧲.

Surprisingly, the magnets separate quite easily when you pull to the side and allow them to slide apart.

👍👍 neodymium magnets-I made a similar setup for my wading staff.... and I have a couple of larger ones buried in the piece of sheep fleece on top of my chest pack-it keeps on mayflies from blowing away!

thanks Wayne... I too have tried all sorts of things... the typical magnets on split rings suck... and at different times I use a vest, a sling pack and maybe other times a waist pack... trying to find a cost effective way to keep the darn thing in place and out of the way is a bear.... so much so that I rarely carry a net these days...I presume these magets came with the attachment points that enabled you to connect them to the carabiner, etc...having the flies on the magnet is better than tangled in the net webbing?
