Charlie Brooks' Green Drake (western) imitation; buggy, simple, easy to tie.
hook - Mustad 3906B #10
underbody - non-tox wire .025 (optional)
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - grizzly hen dyed dark green
rib - peacock herl/x-fine wire gold
abdomen/thorax - rabbit/angora goat mix black
hackle - grizzly hen dyed dark green
mash barb, wrap front of shank with non-tox

start thread, wrap underbody, taper front and back

tie in ribbing and wrap back to point above barb

measure a clump of grizzly hen (hook gap past bend) and tie in

tie in a couple strands of peacock herl

dub thread, dub tapered body

twist peacock herl together and rib body

counterwrap with wire; helicopter end and tie off

prep hen hackle and tie in by tip (I'm thinking a came up a bit light on the dye job, but it does darken up a bit when wet)

take a few turns of hackle, tie off, half hitch x 2, SHHAN; go find a drake hatch

Scott
