Question, did you use both a green and a Bronze hurl when
making the body? I ask as I spy with my little eye a touch of
green on the under side. Plus, I'm naturally curious.

By the way, it's beautiful too.

no bronze herl was used. it could be just a shadow

i tie in 4-5 strands of peacock herl at the bend and then i make 1 wrap forward. then i attach a hackle plier to the herl strands and twist them into a rope/chenille. a dab of super glue on the hook shank and then wrap to the hook eye.

I like the tip about making one turn of herl before twisting them into a rope. This simple step helps form that nice taper at the tail.

Thanks for the answer. Second thanks for the methodology you use to
create such a good lookin' bug.

After taking a closer look and with the 'new' information, it appears if
the hackle and the wing are acting as filters for the light creating the
bronzeish effect. May be the bit that gets the bite, eh?

Thanks for the under-view. yup, green all the way. chuckle.
But still has that nice 'bronzy tint' at the edges from light
filtered by the upper protuberance that some may refer to
as a 'wing', chucklin' some more. neat how that works ain't it?
