Do you know anything about the origin of the name of this fly? Is it named after Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain perhaps? JLC was an extraordinary figure in Civil War history.

not much history is given in bergmans book on any patterns

No. I am just an admirer of JLC, and was wondering if he was in some way the inspiration for this pattern.

Being a Mainer, JLC and the 20th are fairly revered up here. Shipyard Brewing makes a seriously tasty beverage named after the man; 'Chamberlain Ale'. No word on whether ol' Joshua ever wet a line, but the name of the fly, and the fact that it looks like the quintessential Maine small stream offering, makes sense.
