Ron,
I am tying these mainly to see how the silk dubbing with the bling performs.

I think Quigley Cripples are just as effective and simpler to tie. With the success of Soft Hackles and Flymphs used as emergers my next step in a hatch is usually moving on to dry flies. ;)

Silk thread dubbing?.... Are you combing it out and chopping it up? I'm intrigued.

Bill - I had the same question (silk thread dubbing), and am interested in hearing more about it. I've been using Kreinik silk dubbing (nice stuff). I'm curious to hear if you've been making up your own silk dubbing blends.

No combing Silk thread dubbing:
First I wind about 20 loops of thread around the flexible shaft of one of my IKEA tying lights bent over into a loop(6-8" across) . Also this Kinkame is a heavier quilting thread than Kimono or anything closer in size to Pearsall's gossamer.

Next I cut one side side loose to remove it. Then I bend those over to even the ends and cut it in the middle again.

Then I cut the threads into about 3/16" pieces into my $5 Good Will Roadkill Dubbing Machine... ;)

With a little practice you can determine how much dubbing to put in the coffee mill to let it fluff up the thread into mixed dubbing. In this case I was also adding the cut up Trilobal Nylon, so I made about 4-5 different batches out of the original silk I had cut.
