I had the very great good fortune to have a person send me two spools of a Pearsall that I needed to complete a project. Hilariously, they did not match each other. They were good enough for the project and because of that mentioned generosity, things turned out.

But upon learning that it wasn't until Edmonds and Lee specifically named a thread that Pearsall became a 'standard"...

Of course, learning that Lee's father was a principle in Pearsall was a bit of an eyeopener, too. ;)
