English Hen Partridge from Cookshills.About the same as we pay here in the states but the quality seems
Much better. The picture does not do justice to the speckled coloring of the bird.

Very nice looking skin. Not sure if the English birds are exactly the same as the "Huns" we have here -- they tend to be larger and more strikingly marked. Hard to go wrong with stuff from Steve Cookshill.

That is a gorgeous skin! Especially nice that it includes the entire skin (head, wings, tail). One of the best investments going, for soft hackle flies. You will definitely get your monies worth out of that.
I can’t wait to see the flies you tie with the feathers, and the fish you’ll catch with the flies.

I see a fair amount of the skins sold out here have the wings removed.

Next thing you know the middle back feathers will be gone

Which is a pity, since the primaries make excellent quill wings on things like Wickham's.
I also see a lot with the head removed, which also removes all the small neck hackles.

after I found one I'd bought was missing the wings I made sure subsequent purchases I made had the wings attached. Also looked for the longest necks I could find so I could get the small feathers at the top.

my time and that was a while back
