I was really tickled about my colection, then went to my mentors and he has a pile 3 times the size of mine. I told him he better get buisy before it spoils or something. Had to stop rod building to do the AZ. thing and then we started working on mentors garage to get to his compressor and have been working for several days, but looking like getting back to rod making soon.
Fishing trip was a realy nice day, 80 degrees on the Abaque dam drain. This is a really popular place for folks from Santa Fe and surrounding area and the worm folks were really thick, but caught a couple 6 inchers. But as said, a bad day fishing was definatly better that any day working, and finally get the cob webs out of the gear. Didn't take any pics as it wasn't real exciting.

Jon - Nice looking shipment. All the poles appear to be straight, and the nodes appear to be well spaced apart. I can see that a couple of the poles have full length splits. You probably already know this, but if the others do not, you need to do that immediately, otherwise they will develop random splits that will likely interfere with your splitting schedule when you use the material. It sure looks like you are off to a good start.

Ok here we go. This trying to tie a fly, take a picture, and get it posted is sure a time killer. But hopefully I will get the hang of it in the future. Don't really look like I'll be doing the massive amounts that some of you do though. This is a pain in the backside.

Ha. Not real sure how that happened. Thought the picture would be below the words, but I am not messin with somewhat success. That was the first try at takin the picture. I am postin it to show the normal pictures. Then after some real messing around and possibly realy screwing up the camera, got this one.

This is a Blue Dun Flymph patern taken from a Carl Sanders recipe.
Normal:
#14 - !8 hook
Pearsall's gossamer slik thread, primrose, waxed
medium dun hen hackle
medium dun hen tail
natural mole twisted within the thread
Mine:
all three hook sizes, two each
Pearsall's thread
medium blue dun hen hackle
medium blue dun hen tail
Natural muskrat fur body.
Not sure what the actual dun color he uses, looks sorta brown. I have been looking for mole skin for a long time and cannot find any, anywhere. I can't even find a mole to skin.
So here is my first fly on the forum. But not my first fly. Been tying for some time, just somewhat new to the soft hackle flymph style.
Is there places to get some of these seemingly rare materials that I may find? Would really like to get to tying like the originals.

Well tried to get the picture in the midle of the page. Then tried to edit it to the middle. guess I better stick to tying flies and making rods and leave all this computer stuff to someone who knows what the heck they are doing. So don't be laughin too much, at least they are on there.
