That one has the advantage of not building any bulk into the body. Which one I use depends on how slender I want the body to be.

These are size 18 and 20. I used mallard breast for the collar.

Those are beautiful flies Dubbin.

Do you find a difference in the number of hook ups with the flies with the red next to the eye? I have found with some of my flies if I tie a red hot spot around the collar, it seems I get more takes than I do with the flies that don't have a red collar.

I have not noticed a difference . I am sure under certain circumstances there are minir differences.

The one thing I noticed when I tied these patterns a few years ago was, I needed new scissors.
