Thanks Doug. I can remember hunting grouse as a kid, but I don't ever remember getting one. :lol:

Donald - Sorry, I missed your question earlier. The hook I used is a turned up eye (TUE) Mustad Model R50U-94842. I love these hooks for wingless wet flies. They are extremely sharp, and I like the shape. They remind me of miniature steelhead hooks.

My experience were similar. They had the d**nedest habit of being behind a tree just as I'm about to pull the trigger.
