But I keep adding hooks and have nowhere in my "system" to add them other than to tear everything half apart and start over...

I've been at this for only about 2 years now, and I definitely have OCD. I have a spreadsheet with my hooks, beads, threads, and other materials. I also use the same boxes that chugbug uses for hooks and beads.

Great idea for hook storage.
Are all the small containers separate?
I would like to know the make and model number of the boxes, your setup would help me with organizing my hooks.

The lids for the individual compartments are not great. They loosen easily but the main lid for each large 28 compartment box is secure.

The plastic is not of very high quality, but honestly, it doesn't need to be to hold hooks and beads.

If a 4-compartment group were to fall on the floor, it would be a mess since the lids are not super tight. But if a 28-compartment box were to fall, it would likely stay closed.

Be sure to check sizes because these won't hold your Mepps spinners!

That's where I buy mine. They are made for beaders. If you hunt you can get them for about $2 a container. Each has 7 self contained rows of 4 individually closing boxes. I am very happy with them but they are not for everybody -- they are very cheaply made, so you can't shake them around too much or hold them upside down because the lids are secured only by a little bump in the plastic and the plastic is not hard but soft. They are not as effective at staying closed as a good weekly pill box, for instance, but I still prefer them for the space saving and having everything together.
Each little box holds 100+ hooks, many more in smaller sizes. I use them for some flies, too, Really helpful if you have limited space and want to save some $ on storage solutions.

Here's some pics. The closeup of the hooks shows about 25 size 8 1xl hooks.

Got my order in to Amazon. Also saw some with round containers and screw on lids. Decided to order both and see which I liked best. Just what I needed...more stuff.
