Re: Need som help!
Martin, Howdy;
Dang, sorry to hear of your problem.
I'd have to agree with what Ray (letumgo), had to say.
If you have mixed the newer items with the older (non-reactive),
materials then you'll have to deal with them as well.

Mr. Mike Connor gives an insightfull look into cleaning materials.
Hope you find the culpert ....

PS. Hope your 'project' works out.

Re: Need som help!
Thank you all
. For good advise and support. I do not know what causes the problem. And I cannot remember which materials I used prior to the episodes. I might not even be the materials. And due to my other project I haven't actually found the time to go see a doctor to start a proper investigations and to tests. Will do that as soon as possible.
I'll take your advice and lock things away. Then do a proper investigation. Thereafter clean and reorganize my materials. Good idea also to do a materials list.
So if you'll see grumpy comments from me in the near future it is because of abstinence
Thanks all, you are very kind
Martin

Re: Need som help!
Anaphylactic shock can easily kill you.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaphylaxis
You have to be extremely careful, as once sensitised the effects can be even greater and very sudden. There have been a few cases recently of young women dying or suffering extreme symptoms as a result of hair dye.
There are unfortunately a lot of things associated with natural and especially dyed fly-dressing materials which might cause this. You need to take an allergen test as soon as possible. This usually involves taping various substances to the skin of your arm, and seeing what happens. You MUST tell your doctor that you are using such materials, so that these can be tested for.
http://www.webmd.com/allergies/allergy-tests
http://www.webmd.com/allergies/guide/skin-test
Some materials are subject to mould and other problems which can cause massive allergenic reactions. The "feather dust" or "preening powder" can cause this, as can many other things, including dermestid beetle feces and a lot of other things including dye residue.
The only way to avoid possibly fatal problems is to avoid the materials which cause them. You MUST immediately try to find out what is causing the problem, but not at risk of your life, and with professional guidance. Breathing in some things can also cause anyphylactic shock, so skin tests are not always conclusive.
DO NOT DELAY!!! THIS CAN KILL YOU IN A MATTER OF MINUTES !!!
Once you have had such a reaction the chances of it happening again are considerably increased. You should avoid all contact with any materials at all until you have more information.
Washing ALL materials in very hot soapy water and rinsing very thoroughly will usually remove most risks, but this is by no means certain.
You should visit an allergenic specialist as soon as possible and take some of the materials you use along with you in sealed plastic bags. Avoid any direct contact, wear gloves and a breathing mask. Before you know what is responsible you are risking your life with every exposure.

Re: Need som help!
Thanks Mike. I am and will take this serious. The problem has been that I have had other pressing activities. And these have been/are more important than my health, actually. Totally ridiculous and and wrong of course, but I've kind of lost focus due to the situation.
I have put all materials in bags and put them in the garage. My friend, who is a doctor, will hook me up with an expert.

There are lots of things that appear to be "pressing". When you die they all disappear. Unfortunately, so do you.Stendalen wrote:Thanks Mike. I am and will take this serious. Indeed, once you die you are no use to anybody at all, so it is best not to risk it. Of course we all die eventually, that is the human condition, still no reason to accelerate the inevitable.Stendalen wrote:You are right Mike. Of course. I have been helping a child i Russia. Re: Need som help!
You should be given some antihistamines by your doctor. Until you find the source of your problem, you are vulnerable. As Ariel said, get an allergist. Get those scratch tests done. Find out what you are allergic to. Let your doctor know the exact birds and mammals you are working with too. This may help. You may have mild allergies to several things, and you have a build up. This happened to me. I woke up one night with hives all over my whole body. If you feel you are having trouble breathing, go immediately to the ER. It is better if you have someone else drive you. Are you having skin rashes too? Dyes are quite common for some people to become allergic to. My mother is allergic to certain clothing dyes. I am highly allergic to hair dye. So, washing your materials is a very good idea for now, until you find the culprit. Keep us informed on this.
