Golden Brown

I found a new to me Hares mask color. It is called Golden Brown. I tied a couple up with Brown Partridge, and a Couple with Brown Pine Squirrel as collars. With a little luck I will be able to try them out next week. The caddis bite isn't really going on, but the trout are taking a few swung soft hackles.

Wayne,

That is a great color! Is the hare's mask from Charlie's Fly Box?

Thanks- Ken

Ken, how did you know I got it at Charlies? That is awesome.

Anyhow, I got to his shop and they were putting the Golden Brown and the Golden on display for sale. My eyes could not tell the difference between the two.

I mixed mine with some light Mustard Rabbit fur and tied up some Yellow Walts Worms. I will see how it does next trip.

By the way, my tomato seedlings are looking amazing, but still, not as good as yours.

Aaaargh!! Why did you have to tell me where you got it? Just ordered mine and some TMC 201 hooks. The new 201's have a wider hook gap than the 200's.

After spending most of my adult life telling anybody who will listen just how much I HATE the 200, I actually really like the 201. Go figure...

I just went through all of my masks and tails and I don't have anything that compares to that color; and I really want to dye some up now. I've got a retired science teacher buddy, I think I'm going to hit him up and try and score some picric acid.

Having never tried to buy the stuff, would getting liquid acid be easier than the more dangerous dry crystals?
