Hey guys,
I'm 100% new to soft hackles, so I decided to tie something random to practice a bit. It didn't turn out very nice,
it would be great if you guys could suggest me some basic wingless patterns that I could try ?

Nice fly and the fish should love it. Welcome to the slippery slope!!

Look at the fly dressings posts but start with some of the basics like thread or floss bodies-Partridge and Yellow, Orange etc., then some dubbed bodies like Hare's Ear flymph and then hackle bodies like a Pheasant Tail SH.

Welcome to the forum. Are you the same MrGando that posted the beadhead softhackle on the Washington Fly Fishing Forum? I would fish both flies in a heartbeat. As Mark said, practice is the key to any fly tying. Be sure to ask questions of board members. Everyone here is more than willing to help out.
Hans has done a very nice step by step of a fly that shows a technique for wrapping the hackle that you might find helpful.

The simple thread and hackle spiders are great flies to practice on and they work very well in the fish catching department as well.
Again, welcome aboard.

That looks pretty darn good if you ask me. Of course everyone here ties with silk in the traditional manor.

Except for Hans he uses Benecchi.

Coming along nicely!
I started modifying nymph patterns. You already know how to tie the nymph, you're just incorporating new skills with the hackles and you know you'll use them!

Welcome to where it all starts.....and ends, in a fashion of speaking.....because no other family of flies will consistantly catch you more fish, PERIOD!

Nice little head you did there.
