Dearest Darringduffer,
I pulled up the web-site "The Weekly Fly.com" and started to watch the video on tying Willy's Sharptail Rabbit. It only made it thru about a third of the way and then locked up and wanted to start the whole thing all over again. I tried several times but to no avail or avale or....
The video was interesting up to that point and I really liked it but .....I think it's my computer to be perfectly honest. I will try again soon. I want to thank you for turning us on to a really cool web-site.

Naturally if i were to tye the Sharptail (and i use Sharptail a lot), in at the front of the abdomen (for palmering thru the thorax), i would tye it in by the tip, so as to get the shorter fibers flared first, and be able to make use of the longer fibers for a collar. But the way he did it is just fine.....not to mention 125 half hitches will certantly sink that fly.

Thanks for the link...I'd like to see more folks post flies tied with "American" gamebird hackles like sharptail (or ruffed) grouse, hen pheasant, and the like--it would be nice to know how they compare to the standards from old Blighty.

I know naathing about love but there is a shortage of true kindness wherever I look. Mostly people act as if being kind. There is a short step between being kind and being naive. Maybe we don't have the courage to risk being thought of as naive. Dougsden certainly has that courage.

To me this bird is rare. To me he uses too much of it. I bet his catch rate is 100 to 1 compared to me.

I like the opportunity to see so many tiers in action. "Wayne Luallen" seems to be a different way to say "thread control"...

Whenever i hear those two words (thread control), put together.....the first person i think of, is Wayne Luallen. The cat knows as much or more about it than any other tyer i have ever met. He's a cold blooded MASTER tyer, and one of the nicest people i have ever ran across in the entire world of fly fishing and tying. He done forgot more than i'll ever know. A PURE gentelman. VERY kind and generous.....i sure miss seeing him at Conclave the last few years. He use to always be there when i first started goin'. He and Mike Radencich, and Marvin Nolte.....those cats don't come anymore.....it's a real bummer................

Here is a question about thread. After watching the video I was wondering how many of you half hitch everytime you add in a piece of material. I don't because I think it adds unnecessary bulk. I also wax all of my thread so I very rarely have my thread loosen on the shank.
