Quality issues.

I was very disappointed today when I received the worst hare's mask I've ever seen. It was also the first mask not coming from Europe. It was a Grade #1 Dyed Gold Hareline Dubbin with half the animal still attached to the flesh side of the mask, dirty, dirty and with a lot of fur missing. I will never buy a natural product from them again.

Could there be such a difference between Europe and America? I have bought from England, Ireland, Romania and Scotland - dyed and natural - and none of these has been anything but superiour.
This reminded me of a post by Ray (letumgo) where he said he had some not so good masks (I had posted about washing, drying, velcroing and "cupping" a dyed mask).

I liked the colour though.

dd,
I've purchased masks from Hareline and found them very good. I don't know why yours is not. I'll say all of the masks I've purchased, here, stateside, have been quite good. I'd contact who you purchased from and tell them of your dissatisfaction. Most places would not risk losing a customer.

I've noticed that the quality on Hareline rabbit faces (this is what my wife calls them) varies significantly, from marginal to excellent. I'd suggest doing what Mark says ... complain to somebody. Maybe even an e-mail to Hareline. I've learned over the years that buying natural materials by mail is sometimes risky unless you know somebody on the other end.

I have found the masks from hare line, for the most part, good quality for dyed hare. However, for natural, you can't beat a European mask which I think are superior in color and texture. I'm a pawer. I like to paw through materials first hand especially for natural materials.

dd, Howdy;

Take some photos and send them to Hareline and ask them if this is their defination of a Quality product.
Did a quick Google and this is from their (Hareline's site);

"If you are a consumer and have any questions regarding our products please feel free to e-mail us and we will do our best to reply in a very timely fashion."

hareline@hareline.com"

Good Luck

When I have had issues with materials purchased on-line, I have followed up with an E-mail politely explaining the quality problem/defect with the material in question. I also include a photograph of the material in question to help illustrate the issue. In every single case, the seller has replaced the item at no extra cost to me. Once they hear that there is an issue, they almost always send out a replacement item the next day. So, yes, I agree that you should complain to the seller. But I would suggest doing it in a respectful manner. That alone will usually get their attention and get you the service you want...

just my two cents...

Thank you for your support and advise. I would never be anything but polite if making a complaint - no matter what. This time I just kept what was useable and discarded the rest. Lesson learnt and no big deal. I was thinking of Johnno and that gave me perspective.

dd,
Sounds like you got a bad one. Hare Line product is very good and getting an inferior product is VERY rare.
