Hi All;
Anyone ever used Gudebrod 00 or 0 size silk thread?
Thanks in advance;

I have one spool of Gudebrod 00 silk thread that I picked out of a bargain bin at Somerset, and although I haven't tied a lot with it yet, it seems to lie nice and flat. It also feels almost as though it has been treated with something ... not tacky, but something that makes it "stiffer" than other silks I have used.

Hi Bill;
How does the diameter compare to Pearsalls?

It is smaller in diameter and not corded like Gossamer. For comparison purposes, I would say it is closer to 8/0 thread.

Hi Bill;
Thanks, sounds like 00 would work well on smaller hooks. I purchased a couple spools and can't wait to try it out.

Hi all;
Recieved my vintage Gudebrod silk 00 thread yesterdy, it came on 925 yard spools so wound some on thread bobbins using the Wife's sewing machine. It appears that this thread is heavily waxed, left residue on the sewing machine. It's slightly thicker than Pearsalls and the orange is much darker than Pearsalls bright orange or YLI bright orange. Overall I really like the color.
Will try to post some photos this evening.

Interesting about the color ... would the 'pre'-waxed thread be the cause of the darker shade of Orange?

Hi Hank;
I think that's part of it but, I also think it's a darker shade to boot! I'm not even totally convinced it's wax. I also bought it to use for rod wraps but will have to test and see if it will take varnish.
