Nicely tied flies! I checked out the link and I noticed a couple of things. First, the author of the fly spells his name Mold not Mould and second the original is slightly different; not to say that it is any more effective.

As Mr. Bailey mentioned, the Black Magic Spiders I've been tying use a few wraps of copper wire under the peacock herl thorax.....with a black thread body, peacock herl thorax but, I use Starling hackles, including the "fuzzy" part of the hackle. Years ago, a fellow in the UK sent me the dressing, as tied by his father / grandfather "many" years ago. A very deadly fly to use when tied on size 14 and 16 hooks.

My rendition uses #16 Daiichi, black thread, 1 1/2 - 2 wraps of starling, tied in by the tip, and natural strung peacock without the underwraps of wire. Looks to be useful for midging trout and maybe too when black caddis are about. It just looks buggy.
