I needed a laugh today... thanks!
At least you don't call it a flymph.
John

But, to be honest, I did tie and fish a lot of soft hackles with the bead behind the hackle.......and many of them worked quite well, especially the Hare's Ear and PTs. (Mea Culpa)

Orvis KNEW better--in the 1970s. But today? LOL--the place is run by MBAs who can't tie a fly to save their life, and don't know a good tie from a bad tie--. Well, that's my 2 cents.

Worse? It bears no resemblance in color or form to any stage of the natural Ephemerella Subvaria whatsoever.
Looks like another of those "This is my version of a (fill in the blank)" flies based on nothing more then the whim of some well meaning thread jocky with too much enthusiasm but too little observational experience.

I wouldn’t call the first one a flymph either, according to the definition I’ve seen on here:
"FLYMPH - A WINGLESS ARTIFICIAL fly with a soft, translucent body of fur or wool which blends with the undercolor of the tying silk when wet, utilizing soft hackle fibers easily activated by the currents to give the effect of an insect alive in the water, and strategically cast diagonally upstream or across for the trout to take just below or within a few inches of the surface film"
It’s that last bit I think the bead has issues with.

I'll throw in my penny -- not a flymph. A beaded soft hackle or a bead head soft hackle is what I would call it.

Finally, a great explanation to what a flymph is that I understand.
