Pheasant dressing question ?

Sorry as this is probably a well known answer but when viewing some of the old spider dressings
they called for hen pheasant. My question is are they referring to a Hungarian hen or a Ringneck hen ?
Thanks in advance.

If the material list calls for "hen pheasant", I believe that would be Ringneck. If it calls for
Hungarian, that would be a partridge (not pheasant). I'm no bird expert, and there are many
different types of pheasants, but I've never heard of Hungarian pheasant.

wait .......WHAT?? Neither of you has any super Duper top secret Hungarian pheasant?

Take an Allcock 04991, in size 13. Use only genuine Pearsalls sherry spinner (on a wooden spool) as the under body for a stripped piece of vintage Reed tackle condor Quill. Add in your grade one + Super platinum Hungarian pheasant as they swept back collar hackle. Finish the head with your original Mattarelli whip finisher, and yes, you have the fly of the century! No toad will be able to resist you’re perfect presentation!

It’s THE magic!
