Peccary & Peacock
Soft Hackle Fly Pattern
Hook - Mustad 3399, 3906 or equivalent
Thread - Black
Body - Peccary hair
Hackle - Hungarian Partridge
Head - Peacock herl
Apply crazy glue to the hook shank prior to wrapping the peccary hair forward or coat the body with uv resin for durability
Flytiers sure have a way at making things difficult

That is such a good looking pattern Norm! I have heard about tying with peccary hairs but never have had the experience! Are they soaked in water beforehand to help flexibility? I know the glues would help in this respect as you literally adhere the hair to the hook shank. One thing I have been messing around with in the last year or two is UV resins! They are phenomenal!
Thank you Norm for making (creating) such wonderful patterns! When is your book due out? You need to think seriously about this friend!

Superbly fishable. Love everything about this pattern. Profile…segmentation…how hackle harmonizes with the body material…herl-head…and the lyrical name. Wonderful on every count.
Put me down for a first edition of your book.

doug
i did not soak the hair as you might do with a stripped peacock quill
it did not split when wrapped
