Lil Bit Softie

Post by Roadkill » Thu Mar 27, 2025 9:22 pm

My thanks to ronr for introducing me to Charlie Craven's Lil Bit a couple of days ago. His Two Bit Hooker has been a go to fly for me for years.

Here is my soft hackle variation I am tying with some materials I have on hand to go with this new to me Veevus Brown Silver Body Quill.

Hook-Wholesale Fly Company M11 #16
Thread and Body-VEEVUS Body Quill Coated by SALLY HANSEN HARD As Nails
Tail-CDL fibers
Copper Beads- Head 3/32" followed by 5/64" with a dab of SALLY HANSEN Black to Black Insta-dry nail color on top for the shell back.
Hackle-1 turn of Natural Brown Hen Saddle

After a little practice on these, I will try some #18s. ;)

Here is the first #18, tied on a Dai Riki 135 scud hook...

I also just used some hen barbs for the tail. ;)
