Quill Body Soft Hackles

Post by flyfud1 » Tue Dec 15, 2015 4:41 pm

Trying out some of the Hanak Czech barbless nymph hooks (#16), some stripped and dyed peacock quill and some el-cheapo dun hen neck feathers since the snow-pocalyspe outside is keeping everything shut down.

Lovely flies! A much better use of your time, than shoveling snow. :D ;)

Very nice use of your time. :D
Great looking flies. Liking the colour of the quills. Did you head cement or super glue the shank before you wrapped them up to the tie off point?

I usually do not use head cement or super glue under the quill. A well waxed (fly tying wax not dubbing wax) thread base seems to hold well enough for me.

Charlie, that's a great looking set. I like the thorax and hackle proportions on that hook. Looks great.
