If you have never fished Yellowstone you will enjoy it. Just need to remember the park requires barbless hooks, just mash the barbs and you will be fine.

A quick update on fishing the White Miller Flymph on the Firehole River in YNP. I fished June 23rd and 24th under clear blue skies, hot temperatures, windy as all get out, full moon, low and clear water running at 66 F. Caught lots of small rainbow trout. Nothing over 10". Most 8" long. Some barely tapped the fly and others took it and looked like a bowling ball had been thrown in the river.

The riffle stretch I fished is just downstream from Biscuit Basin. About 7pm the wind laid down and swarms of the White Miller and little Glossoma Caddis returned to the river to egg lay. I didn't see a single fish rise.

I'm having trouble getting some photos resized to fit the forum so none will be attached. No fish photos because I didn't lift a fish out of the water before I released it.

For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to fish the Firehole River in YNP, this stretch is typical of what you'll find. Fishing opens the last of May and they usually shut it down about July 1st because the water gets too warm. It then re-opens in the fall.
