Scott P. Howdy;

Beautiful fly, and I need to ask, is there a difference in the properties of the 2 ducks
that would effect the fly (webbyness or other such), or would it just be "appearances" ?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Hank,

Thanks. I've never had any mandarin duck to tie with so I can't make a comparison between the two; hopefully, someone else will chime in. I do like hackling with woodduck; the stem seems to be a bit thinner than mallard, making it easier to get the fibers to lay properly.

Regards,
Scott

A much prettier fly than the name would suggest. Beautifully executed, too.

Another handsome fishing fly. ;)

Strange name for a fly (But I like it!). Great looking tie.

I have meant to mention that I really like your method of posting, with the 3 different views of a fly. Gives really good idea of the construction of the pattern, and a better idea of how the fly should look.

I recently bought some beautiful wood duck feathers from Chris Krosch (putz25@outlook.com). He also has Mandarin duck feathers but is low on them right now. He has plenty of wood duck though.

Wow. That's really a good looking pattern. Just beautiful.
