I use Harding's Book as a go to reference/pattern book AND a good read. Yup! Gotta luv it :D

I love the look of this fly and have absolutely no reason why other than what you said originally that it's a searching pattern. I do have a good Hungarian partridge skin but the only feathers that look suitable for the wing are on the tail and are solid brown. I also don't know what is meant by a "partridge slip" so it may not even be on the skin I have or I'm not looking in the right place. I was wondering If I could use the all brown feathers or maybe a nice mottled turkey tail instead or maybe some one could clue in mr. clueless here what a "slip" is. Thanks.
