Yes, it is. This is one of my favorite recently created ties. It just has a certain appeal to me, but I like green, anyway.

i love green too.....every shade of it.....if the tyin' gods made us all have to choose only one color to tye with (specially for Trout fishin' flies).....i might have to choose green.......i threw a green Usual in with the flies i'm sending to Jim, for HIM. He's gettin' and extra 16 flies for bein' the swapmeister .....Now all i gotta do is remember to put some green in there for return postage.

Great looking fly Mark! Who carries that style or brand of hook. I like Mustad R 90's for many of my spiders and some flymphs.
I would like to switch over to the hook style in your photo.

Mark, that really looks the business again.

I have those hooks, but I tie them up as weighted nymphs, to go after the grayling in Czech Nymphing style, where I am. Never thought about tying these patterns on it, but got to give them a try now! Very cool patterns you are posting!

For those interested, These are GRIP hooks. Hans turned me onto them some time back. I believe they are manufactured in South Africa. Mike Kidd carries GRIP fly hooks at:

The hook used was barbless, but they also have a barbed version #14703. Similar in shape is the Daiichi #1250. These can also be purchased at greatfeathers.com, but other Daiichi suppliers as well. Gaelic Supreme offers their version as Gaelic Supreme Caddis-also available at Great Feathers, but more expensive. The Gaelic Supreme hooks have some very nice TUE hooks available as well.

The Grip Hooks guy from South Africa, was in West Yellowstone back in Aug. tying some great flies (lotta saltwater stuff), at the FFF I.C. and he had a pretty good stash of hooks with him.....lotta different stuff......really nice guy with really nice hooks. Mark, where is great feathers located? i believe the Grip guy was saying, that he was trying to establish an importer/distrubuter here in the states.....but i may have got that wrong. Could be an opprotunity for someone.....probably take a pretty serious inventment though.

Great Feathers is located in Maryland. Mike Kidd, a member, here, has some great soft-hackle supplies and materials. Check him out. As far as I knew, Kevin Compton was/is a distributor for Grip hooks, unless this has changed.
