Twisted Snail - soaked (please appreciate that the hackle and body will pulsate more under fishing conditions - submerged, or soaked and back in air not quite the same - but still 8-) )

Mike,

There are some patterns about which use that tied-down approach, mostly tadpole imitations. One would have to make the collar barbs a tad longer than I used, obviously.

Cheers,
Hans W

PS Mark would clearly ban me from this forum if I were to post such a non-wingless-wet here

Hi Hans,

It's surprising to see just how dense everything appears when wet. I bet it would work well in a brown color overall too! Great tie as usual.

Regards,
Mark

Facinating fly, Hans. I like it a lot. I'm curious to know if you set out to design it as a snail pattern, or if you picked the name/pattern after you had tyed it? Either way, it looks like a terrific pattern.

Ray,

Designed as a snail - a variation on the venerable Black & Peacock Spider.
