Lovely flies, Dave. I like them both, but am drawn more to the bottom one. I've been experimenting with different combinations of silk dubbing and silk tying thread. The simplicity of soft hackle flies seems to make the even small changes in thread/dubbing color stand out.

What I meant and what I actually wrote seems perfectly clear to me, indicating that I thought the flies shown were nice looking nymphs.

Let's not have any silly misunderstandings here. I don't know why either you or he indicated that my comment was misplaced, cryptic, or otherwise anything apart from what it was.

Great set of flies buddy, cool idea showing how dramatic such a subtle change can be.
If I didn't know your tying abilities I'd have sworn someone photoshopped the difference, those flies are almost identical twins!

You know, in the 'real world' Dave would have spotted the glimmer in Mike's eyes on his initial observation, and Mike would have seen the puzzled look on Dave's face. All would have been resolved in seconds, and in good humour

Written exchanges, especially short phrased ones, have inherent scope for confusion, and sometimes combustion. Ah well, I believe all is again at peace. Right?

It always suprises, me when you make small alterations to the ingredients, what great variations can occur. All part of the enjoyment with experimenting. Of course the fish will have the final word.
