A glimpse into Doug's fly box (Winter 2023 Tying)

Post by letumgo » Sat Mar 25, 2023 3:48 pm

Doug recently shared a picture of his soft hackle fly box, showing the progress he's made over the winter. Figured you folks would enjoy a glimpse.

We're lucky to have Doug, and not just for tying insights. Doug..., thank you for always being there.

Thank you Ray for posting these pictures! And you Mikes both for the encouraging words! I have been taking on projects (not just flies but, it's been a big part of it) in and around the Den! Playing catch up was fun! It was like it used to be! Looking forward to an evening of tying after a day at work is really cool! I've been into furs lately mixing and making dubbings of all sorts! I have been playing the mad scientist trying to duplicate certain favorites that I have used in the past! Furs mixes from the major producers change quite often! This is understandable! This is where I pick up the challenge of duplication!
I have also been slowly filling a "stock box" that I have in the den closet. This came about years ago when I realized that I need to tie ahead of a few favorites that I like! Sorry guys, it sometimes includes streamers and lately, small panfish sized poppers! Variety is the spice of life!
Thanks everyone for listening,
Doug

Nice! Maybe we could start a post where we can post a pic of our soft hackle box or regular fly box. Or something.
Always enjoy seeing what others have in their fly boxes and how they organised.
An insight to the soul 😆

I will have to down a few bourbons before I do that. I am afraid a dark, heartless soul would be revealed if photos ever got out of my main softhackle box.
