Hook Mustad 79580 #6
Thread- Black 3/0 Monocord
Body- Drill out the small hole at the back of the case to insert your hook. Fill the case with clear plumbers' silicone and let dry. Tie in your thread in front of the case, add the thorax and you can fish this before the hatch.

What makes this easy is letting the Water Ouzel provide the case. Some tyers have glued things like Model Railroad Track Ballast to the hook to provide the case. Decades ago, at streamside while watching the birds find dinner underwater, it came to me to just collect the cases they discard on the streamside rocks. This even gives you a match for the materials the caddis uses in your stream, if you are lucky enough to be able to fish this hatch. 8-)

In northeast Pennsylvania, we have a similar large species, although they use sticks to make their home. Also a very prolific hatch.

Nice, Work Mr. Roadkill Bill!
