When experimenting with air bubble holding properties on fly tying material; do you use tap water or natural, "dirty", stream water? I expect the difference to be significant but am ashamed to say that I have not done the comparison myself.

dd,
I don't think it'd matter, but in clear water, it'd be easier to see if there is a bubble. Hidy specifically said he would blot off his wingless wet between casts to encourage the fly to collect air. Something to think about.
