Ok Vicki, later today, i hope.....you'll see one way to deal with long winging material. The stuff is called "Just Pretending", and it comes, well, i have it in bout a dozen colors. You can buy it at a Dollar Store during Holloween time. You won't find it except for that time of year.............it's those things kids wear in their hair to make it look psychadelic.......a crap load of fake sparkle hair all woven into a head band.....one buck per color.....has a lot of color to it and it's just stiff enough to be manageable for winging. i used orange on the bottom, and then two really long rooster tail feathers.....(basically schllapen), one olive, one yellow, then more of the fake hair stuff in a golden/silver color.
That crest on top is from a certain kinna Cockatoo.....i forget what kind right now.
Veiling the bead (on top), is two yellow and one pink CDC feather(s), and (on bottom) is two olive and one green.
The tail is two spey hackle feathers.....orange and a kinna yellow/green, or Hot chartruese(sp?lol)..........the butt is both Peacock herl and green/yellow sparkle dubbing.....Ice Dubb basically.
The body is in two halfs of Polar Chenille.....gold and olive.....then there's a bunch of green Whiting Bird Fur.....spey hackle, and two dyed green Mallard feathers behind the orange dyed Grizzley. The dangling hooks are just or fun.....artsy fartsy.....it's all about how much fun you can have. That's what improvisation is alllllll about.
Naturally i painted the hook first, and touched it up afterwards where it was in the vise specially. Oh, those little cheek feathers are from the same saddle as that outside/final collar. Head and eye are standard proceedure. That's the antique violin string gut again. By the time i get a pic up.....that 15 minute edit limitation will have expired.....just keep scrollin'.
