I'd really like a sample of .....
Inspired by Willowhead's extreme generousity when I asked if anyone had a few rooster ringneck head feathers, I thought I'd start a thread for others who would like just a small sample of some tying material - but not enough to buy a whole skin or whatever quantity it's normally sold in (plus the $8 shipping charge).
If any of the flymph forum members would like a small sample of some material I have, I'd be happy to share. Rather than list everything I've got, what one thing would you like to try. If I've got some I'll share. If I don't have it, maybe someone else would be willing to share a few feathers or whatever.

CM, this group has had a shortage of generosity. This is a great idea. I'm all set (then why do I keep accumulating materials?), but I'll watch and if I can help, I'll be happy to. What goes around, comes around, and that has been especially true on this board.

Re: I'd really like a sample of .....
i Chris.....i just started a thread on the Fishing Cabin page for swaping materials.........actually i think it's called "Materials Swap." Guess we kinna had the same idea at the same time.......it's funny because as i was doin' the "tyin' room Spring cleaning"
i just sorta got to thinkin'..........HEY, i'm no Spring Chicken.....and i'll never use all this stuff i hardly ever use already.....so.....i just figured if somebody needs it.....why not swap it out. And actually if anyone's more in line (than a swap situation), with this threads primise, and sees something listed over there, they they really need, and can't afford to swap for it, or simply has nothing i need.....i'll send some for nothin'.....that aint no big deal. i'm just always tryin' to scheme ways to find "stuff" i'd like to use........any way i can........
But Chris' idea of a straight up give and take is kinna cool too. Life's to short to always have to be bargining.........and while i'm never looking for anything in return when i give stuff away.....i also hate to run out of anything because as a fly tyer, i'm a natural born collector.
So, you can see what i have to swap or share over at the other thread.

Re: I'd really like a sample of .....
You know what I have that I thought was cool, and have never used it. I work with some interior designers and commercial carpet venders who are always trying to woo us with new products, and when the old one's go out...what to do with the big sample packs of antron fibers that they tote around? I got em. I have no fewer than 50 colors/tones of very flat antron in every color, and lots (50) of the woven fibers, twisted with very subtle color combinations. It's the same stuff (even on the same card) as the antron you buy in the fly shop, except in colors you've never imagined. I don't use a lot of synthetics, but I didn't know that then, and I probably will not get around to making use of these. If I ever wanted to add a little antron tag to an emerger...I have one card that I bought 8 years ago and have never even made a dent in it. I was thinking that someone who ties salt, bass, pike, crappie, pan fish, trout or even those fancy artistic type of flies might be able to use them. This is the group of more natural colors that I thought I might use, there are lots of other colors from teals to navy's ect.
If anyone is interested let me know.
