Hi Folks,
Well I've gotten through to Mustad concerning the R-70 hooks and was told that I would be hearing from my local rep.......it's been over a week now and I'm not hearing anything :?

R-70's, neat ! I know these are discontinued but I wish Mustad would bring back the small sizes in the R90. I'm about out of size 14 thru 20. :(

I did not think the R-70s were discontinued.

Mark in reading Michael's post I think he was referring to some smaller sizes in the R90's being dropped.

Regarding Jim's effort to get some of the 70 size Mustad's I seem to recall reading that he liked the looks of that hook. I'm now wondering if it was the R70 or perhaps the S70 that he was referring to. The S70 has the sproat bend which quite often is sought for wet flies. I'm only able to get the S80's around here and I really hate to see the hole that size wire punches in a trout that's only going to be released. Jim if you are able to get some 70's in please post as I'd like to get a few boxes.

Regards, Jerry

Hi Jim,
I just acquired some of the new Veniard Osprey Hooks.
I don't know if there is a Veniards Wholesaler over in the US, but they are very nice hooks. I went looking for Veniard hooks as they were the hooks recommended by
Jim Leisenring in his book. They have only recently re-started supplying hooks with their name on the packet. Below is the price the retailers are chargeing over here, which is pretty cheap. They look like nice round bend hooks to me.

25 - VH111 Dry Fly/Light Nymph £2.08 = $3.2869 as of today.
25 - VH131 Nymph Hook £2.08
They might be worth investigating.

This is Veniards Web-site (Wholesale only).

Brilliant Donald!
Since I am already a Veniards dealer this will be easy. Veniards is getting a email from me ASAP!
Mustad has still not gotten back to me. :?

I'm looking forward to seeing the hooks soon, a little birdy has kindly sent some my way, but Jim, when you get a supply, please let us all know. The hook obsession seems to be endless.
