I really like your Ugly Flys! That's the pattern name, not necessarily a description term, right!

I would fish with those any day! I think any Hare's Ear comes out of the water looking about the same anyway.

Sorry I didn't mean to take away from Wayne's flies. They are awesome. I was just excited that he'd tried the new thread.
Thanks Ruard (and everyone). Those are 100 year old wrappings. I have put a fresh layer of spar varnish on but will have to take a look again for this season.

This is one forum that I dont mind the threads getting hijacked. Especially for another variation of the same fly!
I am going to make an attempt to make use of some better bacgrounds. Not to the extreme of Izaaks foods, but perhaps more in the line of your pics Vicki. The weather will be warming up soon. maybe pics outside.

Dubbn,
Wow! Great looking uglies! I wish that I could show you some of my March Browns (no tails) and Soft-hackled G.R.H.E.'s. Last winter/spring, I did the same as you! I wipped out the whole lot and started over. It was great! Now, I am clearing out my main wet fly box of others and tying to restock it. It's been great too but I am notoriously slow and this project may drag on until late spring! It does give a fellow something to look forward to at the end (and sometimes the begining) of the day! There is nothing like flytying. I wish everyone tied flies. Maybe, our world would be a better place.....
More later about this subject. Dubbn, your patterns are great! Please keep us up to snuff on any of your beauties!
