Dry Winter Hands

Lately my hands have been drying out due to the very dry winter air. My wife bought me a small tube of fragrance free hand cream. I tried this stuff and found that a small dab does a great job of treating my hands. I figured I'd pass along the tip, in case others have problems with dry/chapped hands in the winter time.

Fragrance free? Why bother? Loreal makes a very smooth hand cream with citrus and hints of lavender. Makes me want to sing and dance.

Working outdoors and with sharp tools and materials that tend to knock the odd bit of skin off here and there, or laying wet cement can dry the old hands out a bit and in the winter any cuts seem to split open just when you thought they were going to heal. Might explain a lot of the scars on my hands and also how I can make a length of silk thread look like a spun dubbed body simply by drawing it through my fingertips and busting all the microscopic fibres.

Over here the local Chemist (Drug) store make up a product called "Farmer's Hand Creme". Comes in a plain white screw top jar, printed by computer plain label and it looks a little like axle grease, so real men can use it and not feel too bad.

I just use Corn Huskers Lotion. With single diget humidity out here
it dosen't have to be Winter for stuff to dry out. If that dosen't do
it then Bag Balm will...

Do that over here and the powers that be would lynch you! Most everyone here who grew up in the countryside, used aniseed oil as a lure to draw unsuspecting possums into leg-hold traps..... also knows the same oil is one heck of a fish attractor as well.

Neutrogena is what my father used. Good stuff.
Hank, when I lived up in the White Mountains in northern New Hampshire, Bag Balm was the preferred choice.
