Dubbn, the color of the top bird is what I'm after. I'll be in Jim's shop on Tuesday afternoon and will be able to go through all of his hackle. Come to think of it, he's the one I got the first one from.

A lot of times colors are subjective. I know that if you take a Whiting,Metz or Collins you will see there is a difference between the the three in their classification. Last year I was at Charlies and looking for a dark dun what he considered a DD was what I would call a med dun. I called Denny one time looking for a golden badger. The neck I got was more of a cream badger not at all what I have already bought from both Whiting and Collins.
At one time I was looking for a brown redgame, I was told that that color only comes from a game rooster. The closet color I came up with after more research was in fact a Rhode Island red. I also found some dark ginger that matched what I was looking for. I had an old brown redgame, labeled that way, so I knew what I wanted.
Of course the RR did not have the quality of hackle that I was looking for.

DUBBN, I'll be working there all summer. Tough job, but someone has to do. I know, I know....suck it up, cupcake, and carry on.

Ron, I'm coming through Yellowstone with the kids the second week of June. Are you going to be there when I stop in and have a look around?
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

I happen to have about 10 pure brown Hebert Hen Capes. These are really tough to get. They were culled out of about 70 that they had.
Dubbin,
I usually have 5 or more of each color of hackle in stock. Just call or email me with specific requests, once I know exactly what you are looking for I can always send pics. With the amount of hackle that I have in stock it is impossible for me to take pictures of everything, but for specific requests I can take photos.

Carl,
Unless the boss (Jim) fires me, I'll be there. Oops, good thing I looked at the calendar again. Just so happens that, no, I won't be there. I have to come back here for a small procedure with the VA. I'll be leaving Montana on the 7th and, if all goes as planned, be back in Montana on the 13th. Sorry, Buddy, but I'll probably miss you unless you get there on the 14th.

We will be camping in Yellowstone the 12-14, maybe the 15th. We will try to catch up with you. My son sure enjoyed watching you tie in Albany. He said you were his favorite tier. I didn't dare ask him what that makes me.

CArl, Did I give him a couple of lies? I usually give away everything I tie at the shows. That makes you his Dad. Much more important than a fly tyer.
